What makes Āio Sea Moss different?
Āio Sea Moss is wildcrafted in St Lucia and prepared fresh in small batches here in Aotearoa. We keep our ingredients simple, using sea moss, natural spring water and fresh lime, with no preservatives, fillers or unnecessary additives.
Where is your sea moss sourced from?
Our sea moss is sourced from the waters of St Lucia in the Caribbean, where sea moss has been gathered for generations.
Is your sea moss wildcrafted or farmed?
Our sea moss is wildcrafted from the ocean, rather than pool grown or farmed.
What's the difference between Purple and Gold Sea Moss?
Purple sea moss has a richer, earthier taste and naturally deep colour from pigments and antioxidant compounds found in the seaweed. It is our stronger tasting option and is often chosen by those focused on hormones, cycle wellbeing, skin and overall vitality.
Gold sea moss is lighter in colour with a smoother, milder taste, making it a great everyday option or a good place to start if you’re new to sea moss.
How do you prepare your sea moss?
Our sea moss is carefully cleaned, soaked and blended fresh in Aotearoa using natural spring water and fresh lime. Each jar is prepared in small batches with no preservatives, fillers or unnecessary additives.
How much sea moss should I take daily?
Take 1 to 2 tablespoons daily. Consistency is key, so we recommend making it part of your everyday routine.
What does sea moss taste like?
Gold Sea Moss has a mild, subtle ocean flavour, while Purple has a stronger, more noticeable ocean taste. Both are prepared with fresh lime and have a thick, smooth gel texture similar to applesauce. When added to smoothies, juices or food, the flavour becomes much more subtle.
What are the benefits of sea moss?
Sea moss provides a range of naturally occurring minerals and nutrients. Many people incorporate it into their routine for daily mineral nourishment, gut and digestive wellbeing, energy, skin, hormones and overall wellbeing.
How long does sea moss stay fresh?
Our sea moss gel has a 21 day refrigerated shelf life. Keep it refrigerated at 1 to 5°C to maintain freshness and quality.
How should I store my sea moss?
Keep your sea moss refrigerated at 1 to 5°C. Always use a clean, dry spoon, keep the lid sealed between uses and avoid cross contamination, as this can cause the gel to spoil faster.
When is my order made and shipped?
Āio Sea Moss is prepared fresh in weekly batches. Orders close Monday at 7am NZST and are shipped on Wednesdays. Orders placed after the cut off will be included in the following week’s batch.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are sent using overnight shipping across New Zealand. Rural deliveries may take longer.
Is sea moss safe for everyone?
Sea moss can be enjoyed by many people, but it naturally contains iodine. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a thyroid condition or iodine sensitivity, are allergic to seaweed, or take medication, speak with a healthcare professional before adding sea moss to your routine.
